What is a Venture Builder?
Venture (business) building is a growing movement, in the USA and around the world. Venture builders (also known as Startup Studios) are organizations that develop the tools and processes to systematically build new companies. Unlike incubators and accelerators, venture builders grow their own business ideas and assign internal teams to develop them (e.g., software engineers, product managers, and marketing teams).
Venture builders launch many companies at once, and for the most promising ones, they assign resources and capital to accelerate their growth. However, unlike most venture builders that focus on every new trend, we focus on the personal insurance sector that protects individuals’ lifestyles and incomes.
What is different about New Alturas?
We have developed a venture building methodology where we work solely in partnership with the world’s most influential insurance corporations. Our insurance partners have unique capabilities including sector expertise, knowledge of their customers, and access to huge amounts of capital. Therefore making them the perfect partner to build new companies with. We co-create ventures by combining the best assets from a venture builder and the best assets from corporations to fast-track the growth of new companies.
Why is New Alturas a benefit to insurance partners?
We believe that for insurance companies to launch differentiated new products and services, they need to run a portfolio of propositions to help improve the chances of one being successful (much like a VC owns positions in a portfolio of companies).
However, there is often a lack of capacity to do this internally, and to do this with external partners, is prohibitively expensive. Our unique service model means our insurance partners can run multiple pilots at a low cost. New Alturas puts “skin in the game” by aligning incentives with performance, only receiving upside if we succeed together. This strategy guarantees a much lower risk per dollar invested in our companies and a much higher chance of success.
